Inside Talent Garden Dublin: Six Months of Innovation

From the moment we partnered with DCU we knew our Dublin campus was going to be a place that accelerated our mission to build a global community filled with digital and tech talents. But it has become so much more, it is not only a home to so many innovators but has become a training ground for professionals to step into the future, a place that supports the local community and ecosystem through events and encourages startups and entrepreneurs to follow their passions by having the connections and resources they need to thrive. From the first day, we opened our doors for a sneak peek, to our Christmas party it has been an adventure that only gets better with every turn. Let’s have a look inside Talent Garden Dublin and the achievements of the past six months.

July 24th – Talent Garden Dublin ‘Sneak Peek’ event

It all started on July 24th 2018, during construction we stopped everything to take a moment to introduce the world to our new campus. Opening our doors to 80 visitors from Dublin’s tech ecosystem to preview what had been done and what was coming. We shared the story of Talent Garden globally, the vision for Dublin and used virtual reality to take guests on a VR tour of the campus. The sneak peek event was the start of our Dublin journey and the first glimpse of the campus for the public.

August – Construction continued ahead of the
soft launch opening

With a tight deadline ahead, the building work continued. The 3,200 sqm building was completely transformed and designed to meet the needs of 350+ community that would soon call it home. As well as flexible and creative coworking space, we also added private offices, meeting rooms, a TAG Café, a large community space, event spaces and innovation workshops.

September 3rd – Soft Launch building opening
and 30 Event in 30 Days

On September 3rd, we celebrated a major milestone with the soft launch of Talent Garden Dublin. We were delighted to finally open our doors for the Dublin startup community to see what we had built and we officially moved our team into our new home as we made the final touches to the campus.

30 Events in 30 Days

To mark the launch of our new campus and the start of our journey in Dublin, we launched 30 Tech events in 30 days starting on September 3rd. With events ranging from design thinking sprints and wearable tech workshops to idea validation for early-stage startups to crypto and blockchain workshops, it was a celebration of all things digital and tech.

Finishing Touches

With the official opening just around the corner, the final touches and design features were being added to the space. Graphics and inspirational quotes were added to the walls, plants were added to the coworking areas and new lighting made the space feel more complete.

During this time the exterior of the building also received a transformation. The windows were completely wrapped before receiving a paint job. We now had an innovative design on the outside to match what was happening inside.

October 15th – The Grand Opening

We celebrated another major milestone with the official opening of the campus. In partnership with Dublin City University, this marked the first groundbreaking European Coworking-University strategic partnership that served the needs of global tech leaders based in Ireland. The official opening featured special guests like Paschal Donohoe TD, Minister for Finance & Public Expenditure and Reform and Brian MacCraith, the President of DCU.

At the official launch,  Intel Ireland also announced a new artificial intelligence incubator programme and that Talent Garden will be their home for the co-creation of better AI for computer vision.

Speaking at the launch Paschal Donohoe TD, Minister for Finance & Public Expenditure and Reform said “When the Government launched the Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund, we were especially hoping to see MNC’s engage with start-ups and academic institutes in areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision amongst others.
With the launch of Talent Garden Dublin, we now have an innovation platform through which this can be acceleratedas evidenced by today’s announcement of the Intel programme, supported by Talent Garden and DCU.
