Thomas Meyer is managing director at Toman+Meyer, a Vienna-based agency specialized in social media marketing and digital communication. He is also part of the faculty of our Growth & Digital Marketing Online Program at Talent Garden Innovation School. Describe your job:
As an interface between traditional business consulting and social media agency, we help companies to find out if and how they can use social media for their business success.
How did you get into this job?
I think it was luck. Or call it destiny. Actually, I studied economics and by coincidence, I stumbled into a large company, that was looking for someone to do digital sales. Well, and back at this time having a Facebook profile was already a sufficient qualification 😉

When you start a new project, what are the steps you take?
We always start our cooperation with a common workshop. The client should know our way of working AND we also want to know if we want to work with the customer. Sympathy and eye-level are decisive prerequisites for me to work together. In the workshop itself, the status quo, goals, and possible activities are set.
What are the reasons you wanted to become part of the faculty of Talent Garden Innovation School and share your knowledge?
Because the transfer of knowledge is the necessary lever to professionalize our industry.
How do you keep up with the latest trends?
Read. Read. Read. And, of course, talk to colleagues from the industry. The exchange of experiences and actual results is inevitable.

Never give up. Fight for the industry. And most importantly, be curious and do not let anyone tell you bullshit 😉
