Everything’s settled, MDOTM team is ready to go!
The Fintech startup based in Talent Garden Calabiana is the first to be selected for Google For Entrepreneurs’ BlackBox Connect program. Thanks to the partnership we signed with Google, the team will spend two weeks in Silicon Valley at Fact0ry, an innovative hub in San Francisco, where the best entrepreneurs around the world gather to innovate their business and lay the foundations for new partnerships.
We talked with Tommaso Migliore, CEO of MDOTM, to understand how they welcomed the news and how they are preparing to take on this new adventure.
1. Which is MDOTM core business?
MDOTM focuses on researching and developing automated investment strategies for the stock market, offering cutting-edge solutions to asset managers on a global level. Our approach is deeply rooted in the scientific method and takes advantage of the latest breakthroughs in the fields of artificial intelligence and advanced statistical modelling. Nowadays the asset management industry is being disrupted by passive investment funds and robo advisory platforms on one side, and on the other by the accessible computational costs of cloud computing and we want to be leaders in this new market.
2. You are Talent Garden first startup to join BlackBox Connect, an initiative connected to the recent partnership we signed with Google. How did you welcome the news and what do you expect from this journey?
Being the only European Fintech startup selected to such an exclusive and important program is awarding the efforts we made in the last two years and highlights the importance of teamwork in reaching ambitious goals. We believe that this new adventure will help us consolidate and improve our business giving us the opportunity of expanding our network in the United States.
3. Why did you choose Talent Garden to establish and grow your business?
When we set up the firm, we were looking for a dynamic and creative environment to develop our business to constantly think out of the box. Starting from scratches we needed a flexible workspace that offered custom solutions that suited our changing needs and to join a community of motivated young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas.
4. Which are the beneficial aspects of a coworking space?
When you spend time at the office absorbed in the daily problem solving, sharing the workspace with other people can be very helpful. Being able to share a coffee with your fellow coworkers allows you to break the daily routine while remaining focused on your work and get a fresh start.
5. Which are your short-term goals?
The following months will be exciting as we have scheduled meetings in Silicon Valley and New York. There we will have the opportunity to meet potential investors and create new business partnerships that will expand our network overseas. We have now strong foundations having built a highly skilled team of professionals and a software infrastructure that will allow us to scale quickly our processes. For this reason we are planning a capital increase as we want to accelerate the R&D segment and boost our sales network throughout Europe, building towards a complete asset management firm.
