Meet our Community: Max Leveau, COO at Forward Fooding
“Impossible only means that you haven’t found the solution yet.” Max Leveau COO and MD Italy at Forward Fooding
Being French, I have always been passionate about food, of course. I moved to London in 2012 and stayed for seven years, working at Google for four of those. During this time I met Forward Fooding founder Alessio D’Antino, and he sold me on his inspiring vision for the world’s first collaborative platform for the food and beverage industry.
As we see it, our current food system is simply broken. There will be ten billion people to feed on the planet by 2050, one-third of what we produce is currently being wasted, the agriculture industry is responsible for one-third of greenhouse gas emissions and consumers are increasingly turning to sustainable and healthier alternatives. We strongly believe that entrepreneurs in the agrifood tech sector building innovative solutions from farm to fork are the ones that hold the solutions to these challenges in their hands. However, they can’t do it alone. They need funding and they need the right partners to grow.
On the other hand, I see that corporate organisations in the food industry are starting to realise they need to change their approach to innovation, and in the process become more sustainable and provide consumers with better food options. Embracing a more collaborative approach and working hand in hand with startups for me is the best way to do this. It is our mission at Forward Fooding to foster food innovation by enabling meaningful collaborations between startups, corporates, and investors and build a brighter future for food.
How do we do it? We help established food and beverage businesses to innovate in areas where they haven’t yet been able to develop expertise and we do this by sharing data and insights to help navigate the agrifood tech startup landscape. Together we identify the right startups for them to work with and then we create bespoke programmes to connect them and to ensure the projects are a success. Our services include The FoodTech Data Navigator which is our exclusive data subscription service giving access to 3.5K startups, investors and enablers of the agrifood tech sectors while gathering valuable insights, as well as consulting services and market studies.
On top of this, we regularly support the community of agrifood tech entrepreneurs by organising meetups, conferences and workshops (currently in London, Rome and Milan) and bring people together to raise awareness about the innovations developed by startup companies and the biggest challenges that our food system is facing. And what better place than Talent Garden to do this. Connecting corporate executives with entrepreneurs helping them to embrace the ‘unconventional’ to unlock growth opportunities for their respective businesses. Talent Garden a great partner, and one we are proud to support.
