What is a UX Designer and what does a UX Designer do?

A UX Designer is a “user experience” expert who can research and solves users’ needs by analysing how people perceive a given experience, digital or otherwise. UX Professionals create effective solutions for design problems, ensuring smooth usability with a high conversion rate.
What you will learn
At the end of the Bootcamp, you will be able to:
- Understand the definition of user experience and the competitive value of working on UX.
- Understand and practice the design process, as well as the rules behind human perception and how to gain insights into cognition and psychology.
- Make accessible designs by applying the principles of (graphic) design, colour and typography.
- Understand the basic terminology of web development and know the parts that make up a website or app.
- Analyse and specify the requirements of the users. Analyse personas and the customer journey, as well as define a product vision.
- Apply different prototyping techniques and software tools to create a fully functional and interactive prototype.
- Know visual design principles and their patterns. Plan, implement and evaluate usability tests.
- Pitch and defend design decisions, as well as provide constructive feedback to others.
- Understand the UX industry, culture, roles and latest market trends.

Who is the Bootcamp for?
This Bootcamp is designed for participants who want to learn how to create outstanding user experiences to either start a career as a UX designer or integrate UX skills into their current profession. As we create a class of creative and innovative minds that want to challenge themselves, we are looking for applicants who show empathy, an analytical mindset, a rational approach to problem-solving and an innate aesthetic sensibility. Previous experience or knowledge in UX design is not needed.

What you’ll learn
In this 13-week UX Design Bootcamp, we will cover all topics to help you launch your career as a User Experience Designer. We will start at the basics We will start at the basics of the human-centric design process but then quickly proceed to user research & requirements, prototyping, UI and Interaction Design and usability testing.
1- Design Thinking, Figma & Agile UX + UX Basics
You will understand Design Thinking as a methodology, framework and mindset, as well as be able to implement Design Thinking and Design Sprints in UX projects to solve problems and build “The Right It”.
After the second part of module 1, you will know basic UX terminologies, principles, norms/ standards, design processes and approaches as well as understand the difference between UX job titles. You will learn about the importance of usability and UX within the development process and the importance of UX Design Portfolios.
2- Perception
This module teaches the mechanisms of human perception, which will give you insights into cognitive psychology and mental models that lead to more usable designs. You will also get an introduction to the important topic of accessibility in UX Design and learn what to consider to make your designs accessible for everyone.
3- User Research & Requirements
After this module, you will understand the importance of requirements engineering within the human-centered design lifecycle. You will become familiar with various methods to specify and analyse user requirements and use them to dene the user-system interaction.
4- Prototyping
You will know different prototyping techniques and software tools to visualize ideas and thoughts step by step. You will also discover the principle of iteration to create a fully functional and interactive prototype.
5- User Interface (UI) & Interaction Design
This module teaches visual design principles and their patterns as well as typography, colour theory and composition which form the baseline for all visual design. You will learn about iconography and how to build icons in Figma as components and variants. You will be able to manage those design basics in a time-efficient manner. You will learn about the most common U design components, where to use them and how. You will understand the difference between web and mobile design, as well as touch and mouse and become familiar with interaction, motion and contextual design.
6- Usability Testing
After this module you will be acquainted with various user testing methods for usability, user experience and technology/user acceptance. You will be able to conduct a user test in a professional manner from planning to suggesting design changes and you will gain experience as test facilitator yourself.
7- Development & Handof
After this module, you will know how to use latest design software and how to document your creations. You will learn about methods for handoffs to development and how to make your life easier as a designer. You will understand basic web development terminology and get to know the parts on which a website or an app is made off and how to successfully test and track them so you can talk to programmers at eye level.
8- UX Management
After this module, you will understand what UX Management, UX Strategy, UX Culture and other related terms mean. You will be able to measure UX with ROI, KPIs and metrics. You will be familiar with UX Maturity Levels and how to implement UX in a company. You will understand how UX can be integrated in agile software development and different UX roles/ job positions. You will also know different types of UX Design Challenges and how to create and pitch a project proposal for a client.

How to participate?
In order to participate in the Scholarship Challenge, you have to go through the mandatory application process (sign up > questionnaire > interview). After the Interview, the Orientation & Admission Specialist will share the registration link to the event.

**The projects are not technical, we focus more on soft skills. So everyone can participate, no matter the prior knowledge level in UX Design.

AMS customers have the option of receiving funding for our courses on an “individual cost basis”. We will provide you with a cost estimation for the desired course, then you can clarify with your AMS advisor whether funding can be provided in your individual case.
You don’t have to pay all at once. The Bootcamp tuition can be divided into three separate instalments and the sooner you sign up, the less you pay!

I need a cost estimation because I would like to apply for an AMS sponsorship.
We have a mandatory application process for the UX Design Bootcamp. Before providing you with a cost estimation or timetable, we need to evaluate your profile and motivations. Steps to follow: Sign up here –> Fill in the questionnaire -> Book Interview. The Interview is the perfect time for you to ask your questions. Only after that can we proceed with the documents you need for AMS.
How can I apply for the Scholarship?
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you need to work on a project within the given deadline in the scholarship section. We have a mandatory application process for the UX Design Bootcamp. Steps to follow: Sign up here –> Fill in the questionnaire -> Book Interview. The Interview is the perfect time for you to ask your questions. After that, we can provide you with the project brief. Everything that you need to do will be inside the brief (task, what will be evaluated, and how to submit it).
How many projects are we going to work on during this Bootcamp?
There are two projects in this Bootcamp. One group project and one personal project.
Will there be a test at the end of the Bootcamp?
This is a project-based program. There will be no test at the end, but you will have to work on projects and present them.
Do I need to buy licenses for any tools/software?
There is no need to buy any licenses. Talent Garden will share an educational license with you for the course duration.
I have enrolled in the program but I haven’t been contacted by the Learning Manager yet.
Don’t worry! The Learning Manager will contact you two weeks before the start of the course. We suggest you keep an eye on your spam/promotions folder for any lost communication.
